Canadian women need a grant.....

My jMy firend is part native and she has no work and cannot pay her rent which is 825 in ottawa. She was on disablity but they misterat her so she really wants to be working. I was thinking her and I could do a buisness together-to start a womens shelter and have thta as our business. The shelters in ottawa are 3rd world coditions filled with scary people and very dirty etc. I also would not allow the women staying at the shelters to have their welfare cheques stolened (as is currently happening in ontario they lose 100 a week) and this is why they can never get out of a shelter. Imagine this htey are paying to being homeless and its no fault of their own in most cases...

Need Help Securing a Business Loan for a startup - why do people shy away from women entrepreneurs

I am a self-employed mom of two. I work very hard to keep food on the table and us in our home.  My cleaning business has been hurting the past year because people are understandably giving up non-essentials.

For that reason I have done a business plan and found a property that I would love to convert into a small thrift store and consignment shop in my town.  We have 9,000 residents and no other thrift or consignment shops so I know it would be a valuable resource to our community.

I have an offer on the building but I need to finish getting the money together to get the down payment.  Without a full 20% down no one will even let me finish talking.. I have 10% and also the building has an apartment upstairs that I already have someone ready to sign a year lease on.  That rent will cover 2/3 of the mortgage.  I also am an experienced flea market and craft show vendor with a large customer base.  When i explain to the banks my business plan they smile and all but yawn at the details and tell me to come back when I have 20% down.

The realtor and woman selling the commercially zoned residence I want to convert are very nice and giving me plenty of time to get it moving ... but they can't wait forever either.  I am really needing someone to help me out with a loan or grant to get my business off the ground.

If you look at my business plan you will see it is solid and that I have what it takes.  The reason this particular location is so important to me is that it is priced affordably and is on the main thoroughfare in town with more than 14000 cars passing it daily - the location itself is part of what will secure our success if we can just get the help we need.

I don't believe in something for nothing.  I don't want a "handout" or "charity"  - I want a chance to succeed in working my butt off and in return my business will be a value to those in our community.  I know the value and reward of hard work... all I am asking for is an opportunity to make it happen.  Please consider me and thank you for reading.

Aidpage group discussing "grants for women"...

Feel free to participate in this public group space.

Two easy ways to do this:

  1. Add a comment or a question here - on this page... or on any other page in this space.
  2. Or, if you want to start a separate thread - make a new page.

Either way is good - the important thing is your participation. On Aidpage, people support each other by speaking out and by paying attention to each other - as simple as that.

Women Minority Housing Grants

I'm looking for help in getting a grant to purchase a house as well as a grant to get my graphic arts degree.  I've ordered all kinds of "grant packages", but it's too confusing for me to figure out.  I'm a 37 year old, single, self employed white female.  Can someone help narrow it down from all of the thousands of grants to a few simple ones I can apply for with that given information?  I would really appreciate it.  Thanks.
